Internet Cinema - Cinéma Internet
Presented in its first version at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis at the end of the nineties, nocinema.org is an ever-evolving streaming application developed by Jérôme Joy: French artist and composer. This project is a net-based documentary/fiction of web interludes and cinema that appear differently each time. Nocinema is a collective project with various variations from the main programme : Interludes (a series of live video & sound streaming episodes produced by each nocinema artist), AudioMix (formerly RadioMix for radio broadcasting, AudioMix is an online live sound mixtable without images), and Synema, a specific project by Jérôme Joy based on syn- and desyn-chronizations principles, such as an attempt towards a live experimental cinema ("Filming the wind", "Filming the sky", etc.). Other projects by nocinema artists are currently developed : live audio & video performances, etc. Nocinema.org can be interpreted as an improbable cinema or a movie in which both actors and action appear to have wandered out of shot, having no beginning and no end, no participants and no storyboard, except perhaps subjective interpretations born of an impulse to impose purpose and meaning upon random stimuli. Nocinema.org is an automatic process, drawing upon strings of live streaming webcams across the world, transmitting live scenes collected from different locations with added panoramic movements and temporized on-line editing. The sound, each time offering a different overlay, comes from a sequenced shared database which is fed and updated by a team of sound artists/partners, including Magali Babin, DinahBird, Christophe Charles, Yannick Dauby, Chantal Dumas, François Dumeaux, Emmanuelle Gibello, Jérôme Joy, Luc Kerléo, Alain Michon, Jocelyn Robert and Erin Sexton.
Présenté dans une version initiale au Walker Art Center à Minneapolis à la fin des années 90, nocinema.org est une application en ligne développée par Jérôme Joy. Ce projet est celui d'un "cinéma" documentaire/fiction en ligne dont les déroulements ne sont jamais identiques. Le projet collectif donne lieu à plusieurs variantes qui découlent du projet général : Interludes (une série d'épisodes dont les éléments streaming vidéo et sonores sont décidés par chacun des artistes participants), AudioMix (anciennement RadioMix conçu pour une diffusion radio, AudioMix est une interface de mixage en direct et en ligne, sans image et exclusivement sonore), et Synema, un projet de Jérôme Joy basé sur des synchronisations et désynchronisations et se rattachant à un cinéma expérimental ("Filmer le vent", "Filmer le ciel", etc.). D'autres projets sont développés par les artistes de nocinema.org pour des performances live. Nocinema.org est en quelque sorte un cinéma improbable et un film sans début ni fin, sans acteurs ni scénario, excepté les histoires que nous pouvons nous construire en suivant le fil des images et des sons streamés. Nocinema.org est un système automatisé construit sur des processus de sélection de streaming vidéo de webcams en direct autour du globe, captant des "plans" dans différents lieux, panoramisés et temporisés par le montage généré en ligne. Les sons, organisés à chaque fois selon des mixages calculés en direct à la volée, proviennent d’une base de données sonores continuellement alimentée et mise à jour par une équipe de complices : Magali Babin, DinahBird, Christophe Charles, Yannick Dauby, Chantal Dumas, François Dumeaux, Emmanuelle Gibello, Jérôme Joy, Luc Kerléo, Alain Michon, Jocelyn Robert et Erin Sexton.
