Abstract : « There has been a surprising resurgence of interest in sound art in Hong Kong over the past few years, spurred by a combination of factors from a strong research program in certain university departments to the fact that the event-based form of many sound exhibitions suits the transient cycle of artists circulating through the city. Aroundsound emphasizes not sound art as we know it but rather “sound-in-art and sound-as-art,” or “listening-to, listening-before, and listening-after,” and this volume likewise contains a range of ideas in at least four languages, all packaged in a flawlessly translated, edited, designed, and printed container. Audio-visual performance - Magali Babin & Emmanuelle Gibello play a live and improvised soundtrack on nocinema : while the automatic sequence of live webcams are projected on a screen, Magali plays with audiomix (an aleatoric online mixtable which plays sound sent by all nocinema members on the server) and Emmanuelle interprets with her own analogical sequencer and score, sound recordings and samples she has selected. A special performance for nocinema.org.

Sobralasolas ! ep.2 Next release : cd EBU ARS ACUSTICA - ART'S BIRTHDAY 2005-2010 A selection of 16 recordings of projects produced along the last five years for Art's Birthday events. Sobralasolas! ep.2 was commissioned by DeutschlandRadio Kultur on January 2010. The ep.2 was a live networked performance with sobralasolas players at a distance : DinahBird (Paris), Kaffe Matthews (London), Björn Eriksson (Solleftea, Sweden), Caroline Bouissou (Marseilles), Emmanuelle Gibello (Paris), Jérôme Joy (Berlin). Simultaneously broadcast on DRK (hertzian radio) and by satellite on the European EBU radio network, Sobralasolas ! ep.2 was live played and live mixed down at Pfefferberg Haus 13 in Berlin for the Ohrenstrand festival, such as a networked performance and a radio work, live composed and improvised with distant players. A recorded excerpt of this performance is released on this cd.

Une sélection de 16 enregistrements de projets réalisés durant les cinq dernières années pour les événements Art's Birthday (Anniversaire de l'Art - Fête Permanente de l'Art). Sobralasolas! ep.2 est une commande de la DeutschlandRadio Kultur pour Art's Birthday en janvier 2010. L'épisode 2 de Sobralasolas ! consistait en une performance en réseau des artistes de ce groupe créé en 2007. Ceux-ci pour cette occasion et pour la création de cet épisode ont joué en direct à distance : DinahBird (Paris), Kaffe Matthews (Londres), Björn Eriksson (Solleftea, Suède), Caroline Bouissou (Marseille), Emmanuelle Gibello (Paris), Jérôme Joy (Berlin). Artists, curators, critics and musicians contribute 16 essays on listening in less noticed places in Hong Kong like Motat on Lamma Island, empty public housing estates in Wong Chuk Hang, and listening to frogs and rivers, listening to distance. The book includes a CD with 12 recordings of site-specific works presented in the festival.

	Lascaux2.org (1999) a MSt thesis by Calypso Lejeune Université de la Sorbonne-Paris

In the frameworks of her MSt Master of Studies in Art History at Université de la Sorbonne-Paris, Calypso Lejeune presented her postgraduate thesis on the e-exhibition Lascaux2 (realized at the Art Center of Villa Arson in Nice in 1999). I hope to publish it in next weeks on the lascaux2 website.

Locustream Promenade installation Locus Sonus, île du Frioul, Festival MIMI, Marseille (F) Locustream Promenade is a sound art installation composed of sonic beams (10 parabolic dishes equiped with sound speakers and small computers). The parabolas are suspended in the public space in such a way that a visitor only hears the sound from the beam when he or she is directly underneath it. Each beam plays a different stream from the Locustream project. The live streamed sounds are soundscapes coming from remote locations through the Internet. The space where the paraboles are hung is virtually connected to geo-distant spaces. By moving from one beam to another the audience walks through audio windows opening out onto a worldwide soundscape. Invited to take part in this experience the listener becomes conscious his or her immediate surroundings in a new way, perception of the local audio environment is modified. The Promenade is situated along a small footpath between the cliffs and a boatyard & the streams mix with the ambient waterfront sounds. Visitors can consult an automatically updated webpage, which indicates which stream is playing where by scanning a QR code at the beginning of the installation with a mobile phone. Locustream Promenade est une installation / dispositif d'écoute comprenant la dissémination de 10 « douches sonores » dans l'espace public. Ce projet repose sur le système évolutif de "microphones ouverts" placés dans le monde entier et qui envoient, chacun, en permanence et en direct un flux sonore par «streaming » (émis et relayé sur le réseau Internet). Ces paysages sonores transmis à distance sont écoutés en temps réel sur le dispositif lorsque l'auditeur/spectateur se place sous chaque parabole. L'installation permet une autre écoute et conscience de son environnement sonore. Cette perception par l'écoute est à la fois discrète et singulière, dans le sens où peuvent se cristalliser tout au long de la présentation de l'installation, des pratiques individuelles et partagées d'auditeur. Locustream Promenade devient une sorte de caisse de résonance ou une membrane, vibrant aux variations sonores géo-distantes, sur le principe des relations et des interconnections d'espaces entre chaque lieu où est placé un microphone. En tant qu'écoutants des streams, nous devenons reliés sensoriellement à ces lieux éloignés et nous ouvrons des potentiels d'imaginaires que nous projetons sur ces espaces distants que nous ne pouvons ni pénétrer ni traverser sauf par l'écoute. La Promenade est installée au-dessus d'un petit sentier entre les falaises et le chantier naval. Les streams se mélangent avec les bruits du front de mer. Les visiteurs peuvent consulter une page web, automatiquement mise à jour, qui indiquent la provenance de chaque stream. Il suffit de scanner un code QR à l'entrée de l'installation avec un téléphone mobile. NETROOMS [for percussion] Pedro Rebelo, Stony Point, New York (USA) The performance was commissioned by percussionist Jonathan Shapiro and will take place on Sunday 4th April at the Staller Center music wing, Room 0111 (choral room) at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY Netrooms [for percussion] explores the sound of a local percussionist as it travels through various acoustic environments. Each participant will set up a microphone capturing a space as nearby loudspeakers stream the sound of each percussion instrument. Please choose unique and perhaps extreme acoustic spaces such as bathrooms, concert halls, outdoors, domestic spaces, outdoors etc… Live sound is streamed from the performance to each location, locally processed, and streamed back via a Pure Data patch.

« Digital cultural & art amateur practices » —- My lecture focuses on the observations made along a survey concerning "musical amateur practices related to computers - To compose with computer" to which I participated in 2000/2002. This survey gathered a team consisted in sociologists and me. These observations cross also some elements of my 2005 book "LOGS - elements for a social and art emancipation" (co-wrote with Silvia Argüello and edited by editions è®e in Paris), and a series of tof today reflections I'm developing right now in my new paper "A Circuited Era" (next release in March in the Intermédialités journal in Montreal).

"Les pratiques culturelles et artistiques amateurs à l'ère du numérique" —- Il s'agit d'une intervention qui fait suite à ma participation en 2001/2002 à la mission d'étude et d'enquête sur Composer sur ordinateur — les pratiques musicales en amateur liées à l'informatique. Ceci rejoint également les investigations menées dans le livre LOGS - micro-fondements pour une émancipation artistique et sociale que j'ai publié avec Silvia Argüello en 2005 aux Éditions è®e, et les préoccupations qui font partie de mon article Une Époque Circuitée qui sera publié prochainement dans la revue Intermédialités à Montréal.
