It can also be considered a ‹structural film›: the obsessive repetition of the same image triggers our focus on the act of looking, on the value of the frame and most of all on the film duration. Time of reality and time of cinema are the same. <br /><br /> Filmed 25-26 July 1964 from 8:06 pm to 2:42 am from the offices of the Rockefeller Foundation on the 41st floor of the Time-Life Building, 16 blocks from the Empire State Building.<br /> Warhol shot the film at 24 frames per second, but screened it at 16 frames per second. Thus, although only six hours and 40 minutes of film was shot, the film is 8 hours and 5 minutes when screened.</i> <br /><br /> <hr> Empire est un film d'Andy Warhol. L'idée était de filmer l'Empire State Building en plan fixe depuis le coucher du soleil jusqu'à son lever. Le film a été tourné durant la nuit du 25 au 26 juillet 1964 de 20h06 à 2h42 depuis les bureaux de la Rockefeller Foundation au 41e étage du Time-Life Building. Tourné en 24 images par seconde, il a été ralenti par Warhol pour être projeté en 16 images par seconde. <br /> Warhol en a toujours refusé la diffusion abrégée, la difficulté de visionnage étant un élément intégral de l'œuvre. <br /><br /> {/html} ---- {br}{br} {br}{br} ---- {html} <TABLE width="100%"><TR><TD ALIGN="left"> </TD><TD ALIGN="center"> <A HREF="index.php?page=Nocinema Studies"><small><b>Sommaire / Contents</b></small></A></TD><TD ALIGN="right"> </TD></TR></TABLE> {/html} ---- {br}{br}{br} ---- {plugin:FOOT_NOTES}
