Editing Info(Edit)
How To(Edit)
1/ General Info(Edit)
- This wiki is a on-the-fly database, it doesn't use a mySQL structure (only PHP)
- The general URL of the wiki is : http://jeromejoy.org/SAET/
- You must have a password for editing, modifying, and creating wiki pages
- Once used, the password is registered into your browser (cookie) (very useful if you're always using the same computer)
- If you're editing the SAET wiki on another machine (borrowed at the occasion, or temporary used), don't forget to LOG OUT after your session (on top-right command menu), in order to avoid that someone else uses your SAET privilege.
- The password can be modified at any time if spam attacks disturb the wiki
- An email address "saet@locusonus.org" is dedicated to the SAET project. Each main contributor and administrator receives messages posted to this address. Thus the readers can post to the SAET team for suggestions and corrections.
- Each wiki entry is using the same template : Template
- General info about wiki syntax is available here : go to the Syntax page
2/ Create an entry(Edit)
- First check the Index list about the existing entry
- If it doesn't exist, edit the Index page : click the "Edit" link on top-right of the page
- And write the entry title at the right place (copy-paste an existing entry and type new info)
- Create the link to the new wiki page corresponding to this entry
- Like this : add square brackets and bold style
- Example : [Title of the Exhibition|YEARexhibition]
- The title of the new page will be YEARexhibition (respect this format in order to easily find the page into the "recent changes" and into "list of all pages" lists)
- (Enter the password) (if it didn't already registered by the website cookie) (see below)
- Save the Index page
- If the entry is already existing, you can correct its presentation if necessary
- or directly go to the entry page by clicking on its link
- Into the Index page, each title of an existing wiki page (and entry) appears in bold capitals and underlined
- When the new entry is created into the Index page
- Go to 4/ EDIT THE ENTRY PAGE
3/ Create an entry (alternate mode)(Edit)
- You can directly create a new entry page
- by clicking on "create page" on top-right command menu
- a new page opens with a name like this : "NEW PAGE CHANGE ITS NAME"
- follow the process with the use of the Template page for creating the entry structure
- copy/paste and save your page
- edit it again (with the "create page" on top-right command menu)
- and change the name of the page (delete "NEW PAGE CHANGE ITS NAME", and write the new title : YEARexhibition
- save the page, it's done
- but your entry is not referenced into the Index page, so you must edit the Index page, write the new entry (with the exact page name of the new entry), and save the page
4/ Edit the entry page(Edit)
- Into the Index page, locate the link to the new entry
- Click to the link you have created
- A new blank page opens in the Edit mode, with the title of the new entry
- For easy use, open into a new window the prepared "template" : Template
- Copy the page structure (present into the Template page)
- And paste it into your new entry page
- You can write info corresponding to the new entry into the right paragraphs
- After writing info you can previsualize the page : click on "Preview" on bottom of the page
- Correct the info if it's needed
- When info are ready, you can save your page
- the "Summary of changes" permits to write a short summary for a minor (or major) modifications. These info appear on the Recent Changes page.
5/ Editing mode(Edit)
- On editing mode, you can use style shortcuts. It's useful when you don't know the wiki codes for styling text (available by clicking on "Syntax" link)
- You can insert medias : pictures, audio, video (see next paragraph). For this you've got two options : to insert URL of existing files on the web, or to upload files on the SAET server (it's ok for pictures and audio files and not recommanded for video files (because these files are generally too heavy).
6/ Medias(Edit)
- Be careful, don't use blank spaces and accentuated characters into file names.
- For inserting images, please refer to the Syntax help page and Tips below
- For inserting mp3 audio files (mp3 only), please refer to an example : 1975venice .
- Edit the page, and copy/paste the block concerning the audio player :
- {html}

{/html} - re-write the URL of the mp3 audio file (in bold above)
- The absolute URL of an audio file you've uploaded from the wiki is :
- And the result will appear like this :
Artist name — Work name Source : http://www.website.com/ |
- You can insert video files from YouTube and Vimeo, by inserting between two wiki codes : {html} {/html} the generated shared code by YouTube,
- for instance :
- <iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/aaaaaaaaa?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
(you can choose the width and the height on YouTube)
- or from Vimeo :
<iframe src="//player.vimeo.com/video/aaaaaa?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0&color=ffffff" width="500" height="331" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe> <p><a href="http://vimeo.com/aaaaaa">Title of the work</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/bbbbbbbb">Name of the Vimeo user</a> on <a href="https://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

- thus the user can access to the structure of the wiki in his/her own language (to access the commands and the menu(s)), by using the scrolling menu on top-right of each page
- each wiki page can be saved into different languages by adding into the name page a suffix (for instance .fr for French when the page is the translation in French of an existing page, or .de for German, and so on. For the SAET wiki, we're using English pages and excerpt of description into the original language (of a work for instance, or of an event) can be inserted into the wiki page (paragraph : Description (Or. Lang.))
what is the {NO_COMMENTS} command ?
- Each page begins by the {NO_COMMENTS} code (seen when you're in editing mode)
